The study, published in the journal Tourism Analysis, found that those who travelled several times a year at least 120 km from home were 7% happier than those who rarely travelled. Lead researcher from the study said the findings 'illustrate the importance of being able to get out of your routine and experience new things' and 'the accumulation of travel experiences does appear to have a small yet noticeable effect on self-reported life satisfaction.'
