Foreign Direct Investment grew 18% in FY18: RBI data

Foreign Direct Investment or FDI grew 18 per cent to 28.25 lakh crore rupees in the financial year 2018. According to data released by the Reserve Bank of India, foreign investment grew by 4.33 lakh crore rupees during 2017 and 2018 while overseas direct investment grew by 5 per cent to reach 5.28 lakh crore rupees. The RBI data stated that the FDI firms saw growth in other investment liabilities due to increase in trade credit. The survey showed that Mauritius was the largest source of FDI contributing 19.7 per cent followed by US, UK, Singapore and Japan.
