Teachers leave an indelible mark on the lives of millions of students and the lessons learnt stay with us forever. These inspiring teachers from across the globe are taking learning beyond the classroom in every way they can.


We've all heard his name in Bollywood but his actions speak louder than words. Anand Kumar, an Indian educator and mathematician initiated the Super 30 programme that coaches the underprivileged for the IIT-JEE exam. 

The recipient of the prestigious Global Teacher Prize 2019, Peter Tabichi from rural Kenya is world-famous for his commitment to his students in a remote Kenyan valley. He's known to give 80% of his pay away to support students who cannot afford uniforms or books.


Marie-Christine Ghanbari Jahromi, a teacher at the University of Muenster, strives to enhance the self-esteem of her students through action-oriented learning. Her project, called the Sportpatenproject, makes use of physical activity so students can learn about problem-solving and taking responsibility. 

 

Breaking away from the shackles of society, Salima Begum from Pakistan is giving students access to quality education, something she never had the privilege of. A propagator for girls' education, Salima has created a difference in the lives thousands of students. 

 

Apart from representing India in the Miss Universe contest in 1979, Swaroop Rawal is a world-known educationist. Known for her drama-centric technique, she imparts life-skills through experiential learning in schools across India. A freelancer, her techniques include acting, art and music.
