Fisherman rescues man from drowning in Kheroni, West Karbi Anglong

A man allegedly attempted suicide by jumping into Kapili river on Saturday and was saved by a fisherman, Diganta Barman.

The fisherman Diganta Barman quickly rushed to the spot and rescued the man.

The person has been identified as Hamsan Kathar from Rang Chingrum village under Kheroni police station.

He was admitted to the Kheroni Model Hospital.

Speaking to the media, Diganta Barman said, "I have seen that the man was jumping into the river. I rushed to the spot and rescued him. We have taken him to the Kheroni Model Hospital. I don't know the actual reason behind his suicide attempt. But I saved the man. He belongs to our neighbourhood area."
