Indian Railways has unveiled its prototype for non-air-conditioned train coaches that have been turned into isolation wards to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic. These isolations coaches are currently at a depot in New Delhi. Each coach will have 10 isolation wards. Also facilities such as consultation rooms, medical stores, ICUs and a pantry. Four toilets in each coach have been converted into two bathrooms. Once the best practices are finalised in the next few days, each railway zone will manufacture a rake with 10 coaches every week, which can then travel to any place required.
