Actors & filmmakers have criticized the Ministry of Law and Justice's decision to dissolve The Film Certification Appellate Tribunal with immediate effect.
Expressing his displeasure, filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj tweeted 'sad day for cinema'.
While Hansal Mehta questioned the move & asked if the high courts have a lot of time to address film certification grievances? The FCAT discontinuation feels arbitrary and is definitely restrictive.
Producer, director Guneet Monga whose Haraamkhor was cleared by the FCAT in 2016, too questioned the decision as she retweeted Vishal Bhardwaj’s tweet.
The filmmakers distressed by the decision of the CBFC will now have to approach the high court directly, instead of the FCAT for the redressal of their grievances.
