The Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort will see many firsts this time amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The ceremony has been scaled down and there will be fewer guests at the rampart, the Hindustan Times has reported. Photojournalists covering the event have been tested for Covid-19. Police personnel involved in security have been quarantined for 14 days, while those frisking guests at the gates will be donning PPE kits. The guests list this year has been trimmed to about 140 from over 800 last year. The guests will include cabinet ministers, senior bureaucrats and Supreme Court judges. No spouses have been invited.
