On 23rd November, Roger Federer played his first game in Mexico in 23 years. 42,517 fans turned up to watch Federer play Alexander Zverev at the iconic Plaza de Toros. This is now officially the most attended match in tennis history. The fans made the moment even more iconic when mobile phone flashlights made the entire stadium dazzle like a starry night sky. The previous record was of 35,681 fans which was set when Serena Williams took on Kim Clijsters in Belgium in 2010. Federer is expected to break this record again in February as he is expected to play an exhibition game in Cape Town Stadium, South Africa, which has a capacity of 55,000 fans.
