Samyukt Kisan Morcha, a collective of farmer unions has accused the Centre of sabotaging their tractor rally. While addressing a press conference the farmer leaders said that the Republic Day violence was a conspiracy by the govt to malign their agitation.
"Rally fell prey to govt conspiracy but despite attempts to break it, 99.9% farmers were peaceful," farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal said.
They claimed that the govt had planted a pro-govt farmer group to cause violence during their march.
"Members of Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee were allowed to move ahead to ITO and Red Fort with police offering little resistance," Rajewal added.
The farmers have also called off their Budget Day march to the Parliament on February 1.
