Fancy a rail journey across India's most dangerous bridge?

Sep 22, 2019 07:27 IST

India's first sea bridge, constructed back in 1914, is also its most dangerous one. The Pamban bridge, which connects Rameswaram island to the mainland, is an architectural marvel. Its low-raised concrete piers just a few feet above the level of water, make it deadly. During heavy rainfall, the piers get submerged underwater completely. The bridge even opens up to allow ferries and ships to pass through.
