Ex-Real Madrid keeper handed 8-match ban for racism

Mar 03, 2020 13:16 IST

Ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla has been handed an 8-match ban for using racial slurs during a second-tier match in England in September 2019. An independent regulatory commission found Casilla guilty of racism charges which the 33-year-old denied. Kiko has also been fined 69,000 euros and ordered to attend face-to-face education. The Spaniard on his Twitter account tweeted that his family, friends, colleagues and the different technical teams whom he has worked with for all these years know that he would never use his words with a racist meaning.
