A European parliamentary panel consisting of around 28 MPs met PM Modi ahead of their visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. They met PM Modi at his residence where they were briefed by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Speaking to them, PM Modi appreciated the importance that these Parliamentarians attached to their relationship with India. He also urged them to various parts of India along with J&K. PM said the visit to J&K should give the European delegation a better understanding of India's cultural & religious diversity apart from giving a clear view of development & governance priorities of the region. Interestingly, the visit by European leaders comes as international gaze turned to Kashmir after Article 370 was abrogated on the 5th of August. European Union leaders have expressed concerns over alleged human rights violations in the valley.
