EU approves Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid vaccine, despite German doubts

The chief medical body of the European Union has given the Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine complete authorisation to be used in all adult age groups after a long debate on its efficacy.

This is the third Covid-19 jab to get approval from EU's 27 member states, after ones made by Pfizer and Moderna.

The decision requires final approval from the European Commission, a process that occurred swiftly with the other vaccines.

The move comes as Germany's independent vaccine advisory panel asked the shot to be only given to people under 65, citing a lack of sufficient data for the elder age group.
