Who doesn’t love the aroma of an essential oil? They’re made with plants, rinds, barks and herbs and are concentrated into oils using different methods. They’re sometimes present in bath gels, creams or vegetable oils. Essential oils may help you relax and de-stress. You can simply rub diluted oils on your palm or temples. Lavendar, rosewater and chamomile are some commonly used flavours. Although they won’t drive all your stress away, you can count on them to make you feel calm. Scientists feel they work by sending chemical messages to parts of the brain that control emotion and mood. It is, however, advised that oils that are safe to use on the exterior may not be so safe for application inside your nose, mouth, private parts or eyes. For instance, lemongrass, cinnamon bark and peppermint should not be applied on these areas. They may make you break out into an allergic reaction. It’s always best to look for an authentic, trusted producer so you can be sure of the added ingredients. Always dilute your essential oils. If undiluted, they may be very strong to use as is. Usually, they can vary from 1% to 5% essential oil with other ingredients like vegetable oils, bath gels or creams. It is crucial to store your essential oils well, use them correctly , in the right dose and keep away from children. Just like other wellness products, always do a test patch before applying the oil and you’ll good to go!
