The Election Commission is set to announce poll dates for Kerala, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Puducherry today at 4:30 pm. The announcement will kickstart the high-pitched election season that will see BJP making a bid to power in West Bengal from the ruling Trinamool whereas it will attempt to retain power in Assam. In Tamil Nadu, the ruling AIADMK will look to keep the power with the support of the BJp against the combined onslaught of DMK and the Congress. Kerala will see a direct contest between the ruling Left alliance and the Congress-led UDF. Puducherry has gone under President's rule just months before the Assembly polls after a spate of resignations from the ruling Congress-led alliance.
