Drug-resistant diseases could claim 10 million lives by 2050: UN

Drug-resistant diseases could claim 10 million lives each year by 2050 if no action is taken, states a new report by the United Nations. The report by Interagency Coordination Group on Antimicrobial Resistance also states that this resistance could force 24 million people into extreme poverty by 2030. Anti-microbial resistance makes it hard to treat diseases like malaria and Tuberculosis. Crucial medicines are becoming ineffective and it is a global crisis that requires immediate attention.
