5 CMs in favour of extending lockdown till May 21

Apr 28, 2020 08:51 IST

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was among five chief ministers who on Monday favoured that the nationwide lockdown be extended beyond May 3. The other CMs who have also backed an extension include Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, while others suggested a staggered exit. Didi said, the sense she got from the CMs' meeting with PM Modi, is that the lockdown would continue, but some relaxations will be given. She also gave hope to people from Bengal who are stranded outside the state due to the lockdown. She said every possible help will be given to people from Bengal to return home. Mamata tweeted that, "nobody from Bengal should feel helpless, and she's with them in these troubled times. Didi's move was hailed by netizens, and soon the hashtag "#ChintaNeiDidiAache" was trending on Twitter.
