'Misinformation' is Dictionary.com's 2018 Word of The Year. The spread of false information like wildfire across the globe, has led to the selection of the word. Misinformation though is not the same as disinformation, the latter is to deliberately mislead. Misinformation has grown in popularity due to social media, especially keeping the recent Facebook controversy in mind. Representation, self-made and backlash are the runners-up words.
