Denver lab studies Earth’s climate through Antarctic ice

Dec 08, 2019 10:01 IST

It's almost always freezing cold inside The National Ice Core Laboratory at the Denver Federal Center in the United States. It's at this storage facility where precious ice cores, from the deepest glaciated regions like Greenland and Antarctica, are stored and studied. The ice contains information about the past of the planet and the history of climate change. The ice cores are kept in a room where the temperature is maintained at -36 degree Celsius.
