A Delhi court on Saturday granted interim bail to former Congress Municipal Councillor Ishrat Jahan, for ten days to enable her to get married. She was arrested in a northeast Delhi violence case. Jahan had moved the court seeking interim bail for 30 days to get married on June 12. The plea stated that she would not tamper with evidence or influence the witnesses if granted bail. She was charged under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in a case related to communal riots in northeast area in the national capital in February, which had left at least 53 people dead and 200 injured.
