Actor Huma Qureshi has turned author with her debut novel titled &lsquo;Zeba: An Accidental Superhero&rsquo;. She launched her book at the 12th edition of the Bangalore Literature Festival (BLF) on December 2.
Talking about the book, Huma said that the book is a fantasy fiction novel set very specifically between 1992 and 2019. It talks about a make-believe kingdom and an evil king and how a girl named Zeba defeats him with her superpowers.
The actor also shared glimpses of the event on her social media.
According to PTI, Huma said that she started writing &lsquo;Zeba: An Accidental Superhero&rsquo; during Covid-imposed break. &ldquo;I started this book during Covid. I used to wake up every morning, take a shower, work out and then sit down to write. And I call this stream of consciousness writing &ndash; just sit down with a laptop and keep writing,&rdquo; the actor said.

The actor deleted the post shortly after, but screenshots circulated online. Criticism emerged for her apparent support of a film deemed to 'glorify toxic masculinity'.
&lsquo;Why are you glorifying this sh*t movie. Cult?!! Cult?! Seriously!? Even men are calling out but actresses are hyping this?! I can&rsquo;t with this herd mentality. Women, just stop. Stop glorifying, hyping Animal movie,&rsquo; wrote a user on Reddit.

The film&rsquo;s producer Sajid Nadiadwala released an official statement and wrote, &lsquo;The Houseful franchise owes its massive success to the audiences, and we hope for a similar reception for Houseful 5. The team has crafted an absolutely mind-blowing story that demands top-notch VFX.&rsquo;

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma took to X to share his review of Ranbir Kapoor starrer &lsquo;Animal&rsquo;. In a tweet, he praised Ranbir and Sandeep's work. He also lauded the film's impact as a societal statement, citing its provocative nature, expecting debates long after its release. He highlighted the movie's raw honesty, underscoring moments that stunned audiences, deeming it a cinematic treasure. He wrote, &lsquo;There will be massive fights over the content and the character of Ranbir in ANIMAL long after its box office run is over and I truly believe it can also trigger a cultural overhaul due to the way Sandeep has ripped off the clothes of moral hypocrisy with his bare naked honesty.&rsquo; He called Animal a social statement and wrote, &lsquo;That is because ANIMAL is not merely a film .. it is a SOCIAL STATEMENT. One of my favourite moments is when against everyone&rsquo;s expectations, including me in the audience was that he (Ranbir&rsquo;s character Vijay) will come back with a base ball bat or something, but when he comes back with a machine gun that almost made us all fall off our chairs and that moment is a pure cinematic gem.&rsquo; The director commended &lsquo;Animal&rsquo; for its controversial yet comical scenes, citing instances like the bra strap spanking and discussions about sex with doctors as subconscious tools that delve into the protagonist's psyche. However, Ram Gopal Varma expressed disapproval for a specific scene where Ranbir Kapoor's character Vijay asks Tripti Dimri's character to lick his shoes. Despite this, he later expressed a desire to honour both Ranbir and Sandeep by symbolically wanting to 'lick their shoes' as a sign of admiration. He highlighted the actress' compelling portrayal that generated a strong sense of empathy, leading to his dislike for that particular scene involving her character. Comparing Ranbir to Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio, RGV said, &lsquo;Except for that one single scene where he asks that girl to lick his shoe, I felt his performance was superior to even of Leonardo de caprio in wolf of wall street.&rsquo; Ram Gopal Varma added, &lsquo;Not from the 1st film of India, Raja Harishchandra in 1913 till now in 2023 in the last 110 years was there more consistency and intensity in an actor&rsquo;s portrayal of a character than what Ranbir did in ANIMAL. The crime drama directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga unfolds in a violent world, focusing on the strained relationship between Ranbir Kapoor's Ranvijay Singh and his father Balbir Singh, portrayed by Anil Kapoor. Within two days of its release, the film has amassed Rs 236 crore at the box office.
Deol, who garnered attention since the teaser's release in September, embodies the role of antagonist Abrar Haque.
&lsquo;In every individual, there's both good and evil, and it's situations that bring out the evil. As an actor, you perceive as the character, believing 'I'm not doing anything wrong, I'm right in what I do.' You lose the ability to discern right from wrong,&rsquo; the actor shared with PTI.
He embraced playing a character detached from morals and values, driven by a convincing backstory. &lsquo;There was no hesitation or discomfort in portraying a character devoid of morality. I completely understood Abrar, his savagery and malevolence. I had to embody that,&rsquo; Deol elaborated.

&lsquo;He's fixated on revenge. When you're that obsessed, you don't discern between good and bad; you just want to eliminate someone. That's how it goes. In the film, he's endured... It's a trauma that's turned him into this aggressive person,&rsquo; Deol elaborated.
Alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, Shakti Kapoor, Suresh Oberoi, and Prem Chopra, 'Animal' has garnered mixed reactions since its release. Critics and audiences have criticized its violent protagonist, displaying toxic masculinity and unrealistic plot elements. Deol acknowledged the impossibility of creating a universally accepted film.
&lsquo;Filmmakers craft stories for entertainment. These toxic elements exist in society... Some people may relate to it. But not everyone will like it; not everything can appeal to every individual. As entertainers, we aim to explore various genres,&rsquo; the actor expressed.
Despite high anticipation for Deol's role in 'Animal', audience disappointment arose due to his limited screen time. However, Deol focused on the character's depth rather than the role's length.
&lsquo;It's not about the duration; it's about the substance in the character. I wished for more scenes, but I knew what I signed up for. I was grateful for the chance to portray this role by Sandeep. I had 15 days of work, knowing I wouldn't be there throughout the film. I was confident people would notice me, but the overwhelming love and appreciation were unexpected,&rsquo; he confessed.
Acknowledging the audience's fervent response to his character, Deol expressed hope for a spin-off. Additionally, he detailed the physical challenges of maintaining the role's physique and highlighted his enthusiasm for portraying complex negative characters across different projects.
&lsquo;My family is proud of my work in 'Animal'. It's been an incredible year for the Deol family with my brother's success in 'Gadar 2', my film 'Animal' resonating well at the box office, and my father's role in 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani',&rsquo; Deol happily shared.
