A war of words erupted between home minister Amit Shah and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee after an octogenarian mother of a BJP worker— injured last month allegedly due to an assault by TMC workers in 24 Parganas district – died on Monday morning.
As the police investigation is still going on, Shah wrote that the woman was brutally beaten by TMC workers and called her demise a wound which will haunt Mamata for long.
The Chief Minister hit back and questioned Shah’s silence over the Hathras incident in Uttar Pradesh. Mamata said 3 Trinamool members have been killed in the past few days and it is the Election Commission which now controls the law and order in the state.
Earlier, TMC had posted a video of the 85-year-old's grandson in which he said that his grandmother has been bedridden for the last three years and the ruling party had nothing to do with the incident.
