Desperate for a win, Kolkata Knight Riders took down the mighty Delhi Capitals in the first match of Super Saturday in Abu Dhabi. After being asked to bat first, the Knight Riders were in all sorts of trouble at 42-3 when captain Eoin Morgan threw in a gamble. Sunil Narine walked out and smashed 64 of 32 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. Alongside him was Nitish Rana who scored 81 of 53 deliveries. The pair together put 115 for the fourth wicket which took Kolkata to a competitive 194 for 6. In reply, Delhi Capitals, who beat KKR by 18 runs in their previous game, failed to deliver. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals as the Shreyas Iyer-led side looked never in the game. The asking rate was always beyond 10, despite captain Iyer making 47 of 38 balls. Varun Chakravarty tore apart the middle order as he finished with stunning figures of 5 wickets for 20 runs as Pat Cummins also picked up 3 wickets. KKR won by 59 runs to register their 6th win in the tournament.
