Customs says Kerala CM named by accused in smuggling case, NIA denies

Mar 06, 2021 17:14 IST | By Editorji News Desk

While the Customs on Friday told Kerala High Court that Swapna Suresh, an accused in smuggling case, has made "shocking revelations" against Chief Minister Pinrayi Vijayan in a dollar smuggling case, the NIA has claimed that Swapna made no such statements before them but they would not like to comment on an investigation by other agencies, the Indian Express has reported quoting sources.

The Customs affidavit in court claimed that Swapna has stated with clarity about smuggling of foreign currency at the instance of Kerala CM and Speaker with the help of UAE Consulate.

The dollar case relates to alleged smuggling of USD 1,90,000 by a former finance head of the UAE Consulate in Thiruvananthapuram to Muscat in Oman.
