The 2021 Mrs Sri Lanka finale on Sunday was an unusual event. The former title holder snatched the winners crown and declared her disqualified from the competition. Pushpika De Silva was crowned the winner but shortly afterwards the pageant's 2019 winner and current Mrs World, Caroline Jurie took to the stage and announced that the rules do not allow a divorcee to compete. Jurie then snatched the crown off a stunned De Silva and placed it on the first runner-up. De Silva, separated from her husband, is not legally divorced. The organisers later declared De Silva as the official winner and said that those who were ‘legally married’ were allowed to compete.
