Covid-19 spike: Use of pools, gyms, party halls banned in Bengaluru

The Karnataka government will impose a curfew in Bengaluru city limits due to rising Covid-19 cases. An order by the state govt also prohibits operation of amenities like swimming pools, gymnasiums, party halls in apartment/residential complexes in Bengaluru.

The BBMP has also initiated a crackdown on hotels and other business establishments for not adhering to Covid-19 norms.

With Covid-19 cases spiralling, the Karnataka government issued an order mandating private hospitals in the state to reserve 50% of their beds for treating Covid-19 patients referred by public authorities.

Bengaluru is among India's 10 districts with the highest number of new cases, according to Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan on Tuesday. 

Overall, Karnataka is the third worst-hit state in the country till now, behind Maharashtra and Kerala. On Tuesday alone, Bengaluru reported over 6,000 new cases and nearly 40 deaths.
