New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Saturday announced that Auckland will be put under a 7-day lockdown from Sunday morning. The decision came after a new case of Covid-19 of unknown origin emerged in the country's biggest city. The health officials informed that the person developed symptoms on Tuesday and is regarded as having been potentially infected since Sunday. Ardern said that the lockdown is an unfortunate but necessary measure to protect Aucklanders again. The rest of the country will go into Level 2 restrictions, limiting public gatherings.
