Covid-19: Manchester United will not furlough staff

Apr 07, 2020 11:08 IST

After top-flight clubs met with representatives of players and managers to discuss possible wage cuts during the suspended football season, Manchester United have confirmed that they will not be using UK government's job retention scheme for their 900 full-time staff during the coronavirus pandemic. Moreover, full-time employees will be paid as if they were working as usual at the club. Premier League clubs Tottenham, Norwich and Newcastle have all been criticised for opting to use the government’s furloughing scheme.
