Apr 21, 2021 20:59 IST | By Editorji News Desk

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday ruled out the possibility of lockdown in the state in the wake of the second wave of Covid-19. Addressing a press conference she said that the state govt is not in favour of a lockdown but they want everyone to adhere to COVID-19 norms such as wearing masks, maintaining social distancing norms and using sanitisers. Lockdown is not a solution as it takes a heavy toll on people, jobs, economy, she said.

The chief minister also added that vaccination for all above 18 will start from May 5 as the election process in the state ends on May 2.

West Bengal reported 9,819 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday and has 58,386 active cases.
