Covid-19: Maharashtra breaks record again, reports about 60,000 new cases

Maharashtra on Wednesday once again reported the highest single-day jump in Covid-19 cases with 59,907 infections reported in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra now stands at 31,73,261. The state also reported 322 new deaths, taking the Covid-19 death toll in Maharashtra to 56,652. The case fatality rate in the state is now 1.79 per cent.

Mumbai reported 10,428 new coronavirus cases and 23 fresh fatalities on Wednesday, which took its caseload to 4,82,760 and death toll to 11,851, according to data released by the BMC. This is for the second consecutive day that the city has reported more than 10,000 infections. The Covid-19 recovery rate in Mumbai has gone down to 80%, the BMC said, adding that the overall growth rate has worsened to 1.91% and the doubling rate has dropped to 35 days.
