COVID-19 helps Call of Duty: Warzone top 30mn players in just 10 days

Mar 23, 2020 18:15 IST

Activison’s Call of Duty: Warzone, a brand new free-to-play battle royale game based on its popular first-person shooter franchise, has racked up over 30 million players across various platforms within 10 days of its release. The surge seems to be an effect of the novel coronavirus pandemic, which has kept almost everyone indoors. Talking about the game, Warzone has two gameplay modes--battle royale and plunder--which feature 150 players simultaneously in a single map called Verdansk. It’s also got a unique 1v1 respawn mechanic called Gulag, where dead players battle each other to rejoin their teammates in the match.
