China approved its first coronavirus vaccine for general public use on Thursday. The vaccine is developed by an affiliate of state backed pharmaceutical giant Sinopharm. No efficacy data of the vaccine has been publicly released, however, Beijing Biological Products Institute said the vaccine developed by them was 79.34% effective in preventing people from catching the disease. Since Dec. 15 more than 3 million doses have been given to certain priority groups. Four other vaccines from Sinovac, CNBG's Wuhan unit, CanSino Biologics and the Chinese Academy of Sciences are in trials in China.
