Covid-19: Bollywood cares, pledges to donate to PM CARES fund

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced a citizen assistance and relief in emergency situation fund or the PM CARES fund, which helps people affected by the lockdown in India due to the global outbreak of Covid-19. Many Bollywood celebrities have come forward to contribute generously. After Akshay Kumar, who pledged ₹25 crores, Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra pledged to donate ₹21 Lakhs. 'Street Dancer 3D' star Varun Dhawan contributed ₹25 lakhs to the Maharashtra CM’s relief fund and ₹30 lakhs to the PM CARES fund. While T-Series has contributed ₹11 crores for PM's relief fund, the head Bhushan Kumar has also pledged ₹1 crores from his & his family's side to the Maharashtra's CM relief fund. Comedy king Kapil Sharma announced a donation of ₹50 lakh to the PM relief fund. Meanwhile, the 'Stree' actor Rajkumar Rao who has also contributed to the fund, has chosen not to reveal the amount, an act that has won him a lot of praise from his fans.
