Covid-19 antibodies pass on from mother to womb: study

Covid-19 antibodies get transferred from the mother to babies in the womb, according to a new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association's JAMA Pediatrics.

The research further added that vaccinating pregnant women could also help partly protect their unborn babies from the deadly virus.

A study on 1400 mothers showed that protective IgG antibodies were transferred across the placenta in 72 out of 83 infected or previously infected pregnant women.

The research concluded that it is important to determine when and how infants must be vaccinated against the virus.
