Vaccine maker Bharat Biotech claims that its coronavirus vaccine Covaxin has been found effective against the new UK variant of the virus. The pharma firm shared a research paper which though, is yet to be peer-reviewed. In India, 150 cases of the new UK strain have been reported. The new UK covid-19 strain is considered to be 70 per cent more infectious than the Wuhan variety and is more lethal.
Earlier this month, Covaxin which is still in the trial stage of research was approved for use in India leading to a controversy.
