A Mumbai court has issued a bailable warrant against Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut in connection with a defamation complaint filed by lyricist Javed Akhtar after the actress failed to appear before it.
The Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate’s court had issued summons to Ranaut on February 1, directing her to appear before it on March 1. The court has posted the matter for further hearing on March 22. Kangana's lawyer has said they want to challenge the summons in a higher court.
Akhtar had filed a criminal complaint against Ranaut in November last year for allegedly making defamatory comments against him in television interviews, claiming that he had threatened her to withdraw case against Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan.
