The number of coronavirus cases in Italy has gone up to 400, amid widespread international efforts to contain the deadly outbreak. The worst-affected areas are in the north of the country, Lombardy, the region around Milan, and Veneto near Venice. The outbreak has killed 12 people in the country so far. The rise of cases in Italy, is the focal point of infection in Europe, and represents a 25% surge in 24 hours. Several European countries announced new cases traced to Italy. The World Health Organization said that for the first time the virus was spreading faster outside China, where it originated.
