The Congress on Sunday announced its first list of 51 candidates for the Maharashtra assembly polls next month. The Congress has re-nominated most of its sitting legislators, but it replaced Amita Chavan with her husband and former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan in the Bhokar constituency. The list also has state president Balasaheb Thorat, leader of the opposition Vijay Namdevrao Wadettiwar and Congress Legislature Party leader KC Padavi. A notable name missing from the list is former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan who according to reports is being considered for the Satara Lok Sabha by-poll.
