Chhattisgarh’s Ambikapur has launched India's first 'garbage cafe'. As part of the initiative by the Municipal Corporation, the homeless people in the region will receive free meals in lieu of plastic waste. For a kg of plastic waste collected, people will receive an entire meal and a substantial breakfast for half a kg of waste. These people will also get shelter under the scheme. All this plastic waste will then be used to build roads in Ambikapur. Mayor Ajay Tirkey announced that the cafe will operate from the city's main bus stand.
