Jun 26, 2019 17:37 IST

A day after the Reserve Bank announced the resignation of deputy governor Viral Acharya, the central bank's employees association has called for a collegium of experts to select a new governor and deputy governors so as to ensure autonomy of the central bank. The All India Reserve Bank of India Employees Association has proposed that a collegium of experts comprising former RBI governors, other prominent central bankers and economists should appoint governors and deputy governors and not the govt, as the RBI act stipulates.
