Cold wave in north India: IMD issues orange alert for 4 days

With temperatures falling, an orange alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department of India for the northern plains with a forecast of a cold wave for the next four days. The IMD said that the minimum temperatures over the north Indian plains are likely to be below normal during this period. Severe cold day conditions are likely to be observed in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the next four days, along with possibility of ground frost. Orange alert sounded for Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh from January 13 to 16 and for Rajasthan for January 13.

National
