If the climate crisis continues at the same rate, the Earth is heading towards a "global tipping point". Researchers from the University of Exeter have warned that there could be an existential threat to civilization if immediate action is not taken. When the systems of the planet go beyond the point of no return, a global tipping point is reached. Nine of the fifteen tipping points of the planet, including the Amazon rainforest and Arctic sea ice, are alarmingly 'on the move', says the report adding that urgent action like cutting down emissions and slowing the rise in sea level is imperative.
