As Beijing marked 70 years of the Communist Party rule in China, protests broke out on the streets of Hong Kong. Pro-democracy and pro-Beijing groups got into scuffles, and the police used 0pepper spray to break up the fights. Two pro-Beijing protesters were arrested. Protesters called on October 1st to be recognised as 'A day of grief' and demonstrations are expected to be carried out throughout the day in the semi-autonomous territory. The police has mounted security across the state to thwart any possible violence.
