The Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday announced a complete lockdown in Raipur from April 9 till April 19 amid a sharp spike in Covid-19 cases. The lockdown restrictions will be effective from 6 pm onward on April 9. The move comes after Chhattisgarh saw its highest single-day spike on Tuesday since the outbreak of the infection in March last year. The state recorded 9,921 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the caseload to 3,68,269.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel held a meeting with senior health officials to ensure adequate availability of hospital beds for Covid patients in the state. He also appealed to people not to venture out of houses unnecessarily and follow safety protocols.
