The speculations of MS Dhoni being sacked as the ODI captain in 2011 were true. Talking to the Indian Express, former BCCI president N Srinivasan revealed that one of the selectors wanted to remove Dhoni as the ODI captain after India suffered a 4-0 whitewash in Tests vs Australia Down Under, soon after winning the World Cup. He added that the selectors were ready to take Dhoni just as a player but Srinivasan exercised his authority as the BCCI president to save his captaincy. He told the selectors that there was no way in which he would not be the captain. Srinivasan also happened to be the then owner of the Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings.
