The Home Ministry has given its go ahead to the Delhi govt to double the number of Covid-19 tests conducted daily in the national capital, Delhi's Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Friday. He claimed that even though Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had given his permission to double the testing, officials did not implement it due to pressure from the Home Ministry. The ministry has denied these allegations. The health minister said the AAP govt is committed to doubling the COVID-19 test from the present 20,000 per day to 40,000 per day within a week. The decision comes as Delhi saw a marginal increase in the number of coronavirus cases. Jain said the increase was due to various reasons, including patients from outside seeking treatment here, return of migrants who left Delhi during lockdown as well as increased testing.
