In another one of its steps towards becoming environmental-friendly, Indian Railways has installed benches made with recycled plastic at Mumbai's Churchgate station. The benches are made from plastic waste collected in a cleaning drive carried out by the Western Railways at its stations. Nearly 109 tonnes of plastic waste was collected. Almost 40 to 50 kilos of soft plastic went into the making of one bench. These seats are water-proof and ideal for outdoor locations.
