Rs 250 per dose: Govt caps Covid vaccine price in private hospitals

With the second phase of the Covid-19 vaccination drive set to start from Monday, the central government has announced that a Covid-19 shot in private hospitals will be charged at ₹250. "Private hospitals functioning as Covid-19 vaccination centres may recover a charge subject to a ceiling of ₹250 per person per dose," the government said. To ramp up vaccination capacity large number of private facilities is being involved. 10,000 private hospitals have been empanelled under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY, more than 600 hospitals under CGHS, while other private hospitals have been empanelled under the states, the government said on Saturday. Vaccination drive will begin for people over 65 years of age and those over 45 with comorbidities from March 1.
