In a significant boost for Atmanirbhar Bharat, India will start exporting the indigenous Akash missile system after the Cabinet gave a go-ahead. Defence minister Rajnath Singh announced the development in a series of tweets. Rajnath said, India is growing in its capabilities of manufacturing wide variety of Defence platforms & missiles. He added that that the Akash missile system is an important defence asset for the country with over 96% indigenisation. Developed by DRDO, Akash is India’s first indigenously designed surface-to-air missile system with a range of 25 kilometers, and can target fighter jets, cruise missiles, drones and other aerial assets.
