CAA row: Karnataka HC issues notice to police on Bidar arrests

Feb 14, 2020 21:25 IST

The Karnataka High Court has issued a notice to the state government in response to a public interest litigation seeking action against the police for questioning juvenile students of a school in Bidar. A two-judge bench asked the police to respond by February 19. Police had questioned as many as 85 students after two women were arrested for an anti-National Register of Citizens skit, in which school children allegedly abused Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Meanwhile the two women, the school’s principal and a mother of a student who have been booked for sedition were also granted bail.
